Mot du President... “ L’Association Tunisienne de Lutte contre les Maladies Sexuellement Transmissibles et le SIDA-Section de Tunis (ATL MST/SIDA-Tunis), a été créée en 1990, 4 ans après la notification du premier cas d’infection par le VIH en Tunisie. Cette association, par son engagement, s’est imposée comme l’un des principaux acteurs associatifs de la riposte nationale contre cette épidémie. Durant des années et à l’instar de toutes les associations de la riposte contre le SIDA, l’ATL-Tunis, s’est activée selon l’approche du volontariat et du bénévolat inspirée des valeurs de solidarité de justice et de respect des droits de l’homme. La création du Fonds Mondial (FM) de lutte contre le SIDA, la tuberculose et le Paludisme et le soutien de ce Fonds à la riposte tunisienne, ont permis à l’ATL-Tunis de se mettre à l’échelle et de se structurer en une solide institution, ayant les moyens de ses ambitions. L’accès à d’autres partenariats financiers a permis à l’ATL-Tunis d’élargir ses activités à d’autres régions et à d’autres communautés. Le retrait annoncé du FM, après 2 ans de transition et l’émergence d’autres priorités sanitaires représentent les principaux défis à relever par l’ATL-Tunis pour poursuivre sa mission qui reste importante malgré tous les progrès acquis surtout dans le domaine thérapeutique. La stigmatisation, la discrimination, les tabous ainsi que l’insuffisant respect des droits de l’homme, restent toujours les principaux obstacles à la lutte contre le SIDA avec ses différentes composantes : Prévention, Dépistage et Prise en charge globale. Grâce à son engagement et à la compétence acquise par les personnes qui y travaillent et forte de l’appui de ses partenaires nationaux et internationaux, l’ATL-Tunis réussira certainement à réduire tous les obstacles et à s’adapter continuellement aux exigences de la riposte.
